Layla Magneffect Magnetic Nail Polish

I was so happy when I got my first magnetic polish I could not wait to get it home and try it out, boy was I disappointed! I had such a hard time with the magnet I can't even tell you. When I finally managed to do both hands this is what I had.

Metallic Sky

Horrible! I didn't even try to get a good picture and that was with some serious effort. No matter what I did to the magnet I could not get a crisp pattern. I rolled my nails while holding the magnet to try to get the pattern onto sides of the nail instead of just a strip on the top, I held it as close as I possibly could which caused more then 1 smoosh which you can see on the pic of the magnet below but no luck.
After looking at this fail for abut an hour I just could not take it anymore! I decided to McGyver a proper magnet and try again. So I took a piece of stiff but flexible plastic (I think I cut it off a package of highlighters I had hanging around) I stuck the magnet onto the plastic and it was perfect I could bend it to the exact shape of my nail. I also found that after 3 nails I needed to give the bottle a gentle shake as if the little magnetic thingies were sinking. That may have just been in my head though, at this point I was tired.

Here's the "custom" magnet

Here is the pic of the finished product, so much happier with the results forgive me for the mess but I was so tired after all of this and so excited to get it right that I didn't even bother to clean up

Argyle Nail Art

I love the look of nail art and like to think of my nails as accessories. I was very wary of attempting any form of nail art on my own but after several epic fails, I mean who knew it could be so hard to draw a straight line, I decided that I should try an argyle design.
I think what saved me were the tutorials that I saw on YouTube that explained using acrylic paint rather then nail polish. I hit the Dollar Store and decided that it was time. When using acrylic paint for nail art you don't have to be so nervous about making a mistake, you can just wipe it off with water which is what I did...several times before I got the hang of it.
I was really happy with the results. I used OPI Not like the Movies for a base and black paint for the squares. Orly Shine is what I used for the lines.

Kleancolor Tahiti Sunset over Coffee Addict

I know that bar glitter is one of those things that you either love...or hate. I have been holding on to Tahiti Sunset for a while now. I adore the way it looks in the bottle but I kept thinking, what if i hate bar glitter? People that don't like it can be quite passionate about it!
I put one coat of Kleancolor Coffee Addict and decided that I wanted something flashier, now's the time to jump in with both feet. 2 coats of Tahiti Sunset later and the verdict is in. I don't know that I will like all bar glitter and I belive it has alot to do with how it is layered but this...beautiful!!

It kept catching my eye, little fireworks flashing whenever I moved my hands! I was really sad when the time came to take it off, and not just because glitter is a PITA to take off!
